AGENDA SECURITY SERVICES PRESENTS:

Is Tougher Legislation Driving Animal Rights Extremists Underground?

Do you want to?

  • Learn more about animal rights extremist’s threats and tactics?
  • Be proactive about animal rights infiltration tactics and profiles?
  • Prevent infiltration through a robust recruitment process?

Why you should attend
The training meets two key needs:

  1. Raising security awareness to make your organisation a harder target
  2. Reviewing recruitment strategies and processes to prevent the risk of employing an animal rights infiltrator.

Agenda trainers have personal experience of the threats and tactics used by extremists and have shared their experiences with over 3500 people worldwide.

Who should attend
Course content is relevant to individuals working within or who have an association to biomedical research. It is of particular interest to security personnel, researchers, animal facility workers and human resource officers.

Some of the Training Outcomes
Following our courses attendees have:

  • Raised awareness leading to more reports of potential security issues
  • Identified animal rights sympathisers as part of the recruitment process
  • Been proactive in the development of security policies/contingency plans
  • Developed practical action plans to improve security awareness
  • Been able to put the animals rights threats into real perspective
  • Reviewed their organisation’s security from a different perspective

About the Training Day
The training is enjoyable and interactive using group exercises with an emphasis on learning by the use of real life examples. The training day will be split into two:

Security Awareness Training (Morning Session)

We will examine the issue of animal rights threats, explore the animal rights environment and explain the systems we use to identify the threats in relation to facilities, IT and communications before finally looking at the behaviours exhibited by infiltrators. The course will include a security survey and an action plan will be developed highlighting practical ways in which risks can be reduced and security awareness raised.

Security in Recruitment (Afternoon Session)

We will use real life examples and case studies of infiltration by animal rights sympathisers into research facilities including administrative areas and archives. We will look at the recruitment process from start to finish and discuss vulnerabilities in advertising jobs, receiving applications, evaluation of CVs and application forms, interviewing and screening of candidates. Attendees will have a better understanding of post hire issues such as monitoring behaviour, restricting access to sensitive areas and protecting data. This builds on traditional recruitment activities and adds a security perspective on the recruitment process.
